THE PROJECT
Conceived in 2016, Franchise Magazine is the premier voice in hoops culture and high design. As the publication looked to expand beyond print, the opportunity was presented to translate its perspective into a documentary-style audio series with independent shop Big Beach. The question was, can the media property that carries the depth, global reach, and cultural legacy of the game expand into a new format?
SOLUTION
We worked with Franchise Mag and Big Beach to develop and roll out a two-part pilot, offering studios, audio execs, and audiences an initial expression of the series available on all major audio platforms. To anchor the release, the agency produced an exclusive premiere event timed to On Air Fest in New York, creating a focused moment for industry engagement and early development conversations.

The broader approach bridged the tactile world of print with an immersive audio format, translating the publication’s voice across a new medium. This go-to-market activation strategy generated early industry traction, re-engaged the Franchise community, and established a clear, low-lift proof of concept for the IP’s expansion.

Work began with a phased rollout strategy, refining the pilot structure and story arcs to support both immediate launch impact and long-term development. A marketing roadmap aligned production, partners, and activation logistics, ensuring a cohesive path from development through release.

With that foundation in place, the debut of the audio teaser was timed alongside a listening event, convening a curated group of guests and partners for a focused moment of industry visibility. This was followed by a tiered release of the trailer and two-part series, utilizing key distribution positioning to sustain momentum beyond launch. The result was early traction with key tastemakers, renewed engagement from the Franchise community, and a standing-room event that culminated in a strong proof-of-concept package for the IP’s next phase.
